Pursuant to EU Regulation 2016/679, General Provision of the Guarantor of 8 May 2014 on cookies and subsequent amendments, this information describes the procedures implemented for the collection of information provided by users who connect to the website www.galileoresearch.it, via cookies and/or other monitoring technologies.

Cookie definition

Cookies are pieces of information that the website inserts into the browsing device when a page is visited. They may involve the transmission of information between the website and your device, and between your device and other sites that operate on our behalf or privately, in accordance with the privacy policy.
The provision of the Guarantor for the protection of data n. 229 of 8 May 2014 and the Guidelines for cookies and other tracking tools of 10 June 2021 [9677876]), have divided cookies into two macro-categories: “technical” and “profiling” cookies.

Technical cookies

Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication on an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service.
They are not used for further purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or manager of the website.
They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which guarantee normal navigation and use of the website (i.e. allowing a purchase or authenticated access to a reserved area); cookies analytics, assimilated to technical cookies when used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site; functional cookies, allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria (i.e. language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to the user. The prior consent of users is not required for the installation of these cookies”.

Profiling cookies

“Profiling cookies are designed to create profiles relating to the user and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences shown by the user while browsing the internet. Due to the particular invasiveness that such devices may have in the private sphere of users, European and Italian legislation requires that the user must be adequately informed on their use and express their valid consent”.
In the above-mentioned Provision, the Privacy Guarantor has further distinguished cookies based on the subject that installs the cookies on the user’s terminal, thus dividing them between first-party cookies and third-party cookies.

First-party cookies

These are cookies installed directly by the site owner. In this case, it is up to the site owner to provide the information.

Third-party cookies

These are cookies managed by a third party other than the owner of the site. For these cookies, the obligation to provide information falls to the third-party, while the owner of the site must insert the link to the third-party’s site where the information can be viewed.
For the purpose of transparency, the owner informs you that the following cookies are used on the site to:
